Rupa Wong, MD

Dr. Rupa Wong is an ophthalmologist with fellowship training in pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus. She is originally from Raleigh, North Carolina and completed her B.S. at Duke University, on the prestigious B.N. Duke Leadership Scholarship. She received her medical degree from Cornell University Medical College (now called Weill Medical College of Cornell University) and completed her residency training at NYU, serving as Chief Resident in her final year. She ventured to Boston to complete her fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus at the prestigious Boston Children’s Hospital and remained on faculty there after her fellowship.
Dr. Wong moved to Hawaii 11 years ago, and has served as Managing Partner of a 3 doctor practice, Honolulu Eye Clinic, for those 11 years.
She has been named to the Best Doctors list of Hawaii since 2010 and was featured on the cover of Honolulu magazine’s Best Doctor issue in 2012. She enjoys educating others regarding strabismus and pediatric ophthalmology and has been featured on various local news segments towards this end. She a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Hawaii School of Medicine and works alongside her husband, who is a Cornea specialist. Together they have 3 kids and enjoy swimming, surfing and stand up paddle boarding with them.
Dr. Wong is also passionate about community service. She is the Medical Director and serves on the Board of Directors for Project Vision Hawaii, an organization which works to improve access to health care for via mobile screening units. She is also on the Board of Directors of Big Brothers Big Sisters Hawaii, serving on their Executive Council as the Fund Development Chair.
